Oppenheimer
Much like the atomic bomb itself, “Oppenheimer” is a colossal feat itself. A very dialogue-heavy movie, it’s much more a telling of his life, the Manhattan Project, and the trial that followed. The acting all around is superb… but Cillian Murphy, my goodness. The Oscar chatter has begun. His gaunt face combined with his glistening blue eyes really shows a PTSD-esque man conflicted with his job and the reality of what happened. As for the movie itself, it’s a marvel. The anticipation of the test, the tension, and the fear that was bestowed upon the world is so much to digest. A simple complain is there’s too much dialogue explaining too much, but it’s all important as it builds towards the trial. I’m not sure another director could’ve made this movie as detailed as Nolan. When the movie ended, I was left stunned and gobsmacked because of the severity of everything that transpired. It is a flooring, fearsome and haunting testament of a film that is, as of right now, my top film of 2023.
