Alien: Romulus
Time to get corny….
They nailed the feeling of the old one but added their own elements to it. To keep the movie an orange movie and not a blue movie was a fantastic choice on their part.
One of my favorite aspects was the silence in this movie. Isabel Merced’s scream sent chills down my spine all three times I’ve seen it because of how good this damn sound editing was. The silence at the beginning and then the sound editing when Kay was on the other side of the door with the Xenomorph and when it was her perspective you couldn’t hear Rain and Tyler and the opposite when they switched perspectives was just perfect. When Rain let go of the cargo bed and you could hear the silence but how muffled the sound was because it was in space was also just perfect.
Not only did it pay homage to the original I also really liked that it had nods to Prometheus as well and even the video game! When Shaw had that baby after 10 hours I said damn! I’d kill myself but getting pregnant maybe not even an hour after taking the serum oh everybody on that ship is dying. I haven’t played Alien:Isolation but I’ve seen the reviews abut how the Xenomorph will act based on your play style so if you hide more often it will check the hiding spots but if you play more offensive it will start to hide and stalk you and when the Xenomorph was just waiting for Andy to open the door I thought damn that bitch is smart!
My boyfriend said it best when you saw the specimen at the end it was probably how people felt when the original came out and they saw the Xenomorph for the first time because that shit was crazy! The first time I saw it I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen because I was just hypnotized at how crazy this thing looked.
Caliee Spaeny should 100% get some award nominations because she absolutely killed it. I can’t express how much I love this film and as much as I want a sequel because I’m big and greedy I don’t know how they could make a better movie than this! Either way I will still be sat idgaf! People can’t just say a woman is beautiful they say Hideo Kojima should scan her face and I fully believe this! I need to see Caliee Spaeny in a horror video game!
Basically this movie needs at like 8 Oscar’s for sound editing, the actors performances, and cinematography! I will be buying the physical media along with any posters because this movie changed my shitty life 🧡
