Oppenheimer
There are many movies that I’ll consider my favorite from time to time. The opinion honestly changes weekly. But this movie might be the one that is just better than all the others. In my eleventyseventh rewatch of the movie, I still learn more and more about it, with details that I thought would never be explained in a movie. The editing is phenomenal and deserves to be talked about more. The way that it’ll talk about the trinity test, and then Oppie will have an interaction with something communist related, and then it’ll cut to that person being interviewed by the board, and that person will then mention Strauss, who’ll then be telling the other perspective of Oppenheimer’s story which is the one that many of us were raised with. As a kid, we all saw him as the father of the bomb but we never stopped to think if he actually wanted to have the title. What he did was unforgivable, there’s no denying that. But we’ll never know if he regretted it. Maybe he didn’t. Maybe Nolan was just speculating and hoping that Oppenheimer’s moral qualms did actually change. After all, we know just as much as the government at the time, and it’s not like they did anything to stop it.
