Zodiac
Yeah after rewatching this, it’s perfect and one of the greatest movies ever made. Jake proves time and time again why he’s one of the best actors ever and he steals the show with that final hour. The movie is literally just presenting the facts of an unsolved murder case that happened more than 50 years ago but it is really about the obsession that characters go through just to finish the task that they feel they owe. Probably my favorite ruffalo performance and my favorite non Oppenheimer Downey performance for sure. I still have social network over this in terms of Finchers works but this is so fantastic. The basement scene is horrifying even though it’s not possible for him to be the killer but you’re still going through the same paranoia that gyllenhalls going through. Him staring down Leigh at the hardware store is one of the most satisfying and insane moments I’ve ever seen in a film.
