Blue
« Blue transcends the solemn geography of human limits. »
I find it almost impossible to put into words the experience of watching Blue. It’s one of the rawest, most poetic, and devastating works I’ve ever encountered.
Everything is invisible, there are no images, only sound, voice, and the intimate experience they create. The film dissolves cinema into pure perception: a monochrome screen paired with Derek Jarman’s voice, music, and fragments of thought. What emerges is not just a narrative but a hallucinatory, meditative trip, achingly beautiful, lyrical, and deeply personal.
It strips cinema to its barest form while expanding it into something boundless.
