Jojo Rabbit
This is honestly one of the best movies I have ever watched. "Jojo Rabbit" is one of the only movies that made me sob uncontrollably, cry tears of joy, and laugh, all under one hour and 48 minutes. The well-thought-out satire, mixed with the painful reality of war, transforms this movie into a master piece. "Jojo Rabbit" differs from all the other war movies, as it focuses on the perspective of a ten-year-old boy, rather than the harsh and gritty battlefield. In reality, I'd hardly consider this a war movie. Perhaps, "anti-war movie" would be the more precise term. Watching Jojo struggle with his cognitive dissonance, desperately wanting to do the right thing, but also longing to be accepted in German society, creates amazing conflict. The moment when Jojo finally realizes who he is behind the blind fanaticism made me feel emotions I have never felt before. Moreover, the use of foreshadowing effectively sets up future events. Constantly seeing a focus shot of Rosie's feet dancing, only to slap us in the face with her death, was HEARTBREAKING. This and the fact that Jojo couldn't tie his shoes- AUGHHH. My heart.
