Exit 8
going into it, I didn’t know what to expect. I had played the game before, but with the movie not being in English and me having to watch it with subtitles, I didn’t how I was gonna like it. it didn’t takeaway from the movie at all.
i messed with the plot heavy. the deeper meaning behind the protagonist and his own inner conflict. I liked how the beginning and the ending connected. It made the character arc feel complete, and it showed growth in a way that actually felt earned.
I think they did a great job adapting the game into a movie. It still had that uneasy, trapped feeling from the game, but it also gave the story more meaning instead of just relying on the concept. The only thing stopping me from giving it a 5 out of 5 is replay value. I liked it, but I don’t know if it’s something I would go back and rewatch a lot. Most movies I give a 5 usually have that feeling where I know I’d watch them again.
overall, this was a great film. the subtitles didn’t bother me, the story was strong, and it honestly made me want to create a short film with a similar type of concept. I think more games should be adapted into movies when they’re handled like this.
