Gladiator

In terms of an action movie I thought it was exceptional, the plot is very basic but it works. That’s its essence it was simplicity done exceptionally well. What drove it to be so good in my eyes were the two major standout performances from Russel Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix. Crowe plays the brooding revenge driven general really well even though he was kinda just aura farming the entire movie. But Joaquin is what puts it over the top in maybe the best performance I’ve seen him give. His character was really well written but his performance and his ability to portray this narcissistic, conniving scumbag was the best part of this movie turning it from an amazing action movie to a great movie.
