Hamnet
An absolute powerhouse performance from Jesse Buckley and a keen eye on the direction and cinematography cements Hamnet with a few Oscar nominations. Paul Mescal was also very good as Shakespeare, but it’s tough to beat Buckley and Jacobi Jupe.
Three scenes got me so hard emotionally, ones everyone has already talked about, in particular the Globe Theater. Using On the Nature of Daylight was both a cheap move and a powerful one.
My only nitpick is the scene were Mescal recites the “to be or not to be” soliloquy on the dock, it felt a tad overwrought and out of place
