The Witch
What an incredible debut.
Robert Eggers immediately manages to cement his signature style - The dark, period accurate atmosphere that he’s become synonymous with is incredibly well demonstrated here. The use of lighting portrays the dark atmosphere perfectly, it would be incredibly easy to ruin how this movie looks by making it too dim and muddy.
The acting is sensational, you can really feel the fear that each member of the family has as the film progresses - eventually resulting in an incredibly somber, but fantastically executed finale
