Heat
Cinema at its Finest
Heat is just perfect, everything about the film is done so well. The casting is perfect, the writing and dialogue are masterful, the cinematography is stunning, the score is intense, and the stakes are never higher. By far the best quotes in any film I’ve seen. The coffee shop scene is one of my favorites ever, neither of them are scared and they kinda like each other. They get along, but they’re enemies. They’re put against eachother, it’s the nature of their works.
“Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner.”
Neil is such a great character, he’s smart, confident, and brave. He leads his group through these heists like they’re nothing until he meets his match. He cares for them and it’s shown in him fixing Chris’s marriage and his decision for revenge which turns out to be the only bad decision he makes. Robert De Niro takes over every frame he’s in and just embodies Neil so well.
“Cause there is a dead man on the other end of this fuckin' line”
Vincent played by Al Pacino is the highlight of the film. Perfect acting and character embodiment in my favorite role of his (so far). While everyone in this movie is fantastic, Al Pacino steals the show along with Robert De Niro, Pacino having the slight edge in my opinion. Vincent is clever, witty, humorous, and intimidating. You watch his life broken around him because of his job and how he acts because of its grim nature.
“You don't live with me, you live among the remains of dead people. You sift through the detritus, you read the terrain, you search for signs of passing, for the scent of your prey, and then you hunt them down. That's the only thing you're committed to. The rest is the mess you leave as you pass through"
I just love everything about this movie, it’s the best crime film of all time and possibly the greatest thriller of all time. Truly a classic masterpiece.
“Told you I’m never going back”
“Yeah”
