Flow
"Meow... meow? Meow."
Flow is definitely one of the best animated films out there when it comes to storytelling, especially since it has no dialogue whatsoever. It bravely tackles environmental problems, anxiety, and the path to overcoming trauma all in the faces of various animals.
The cat represents curiosity and adventure. It navigately bravely in the face of sudden change, while being overly cautious with its surroundings. I was in awe of how they showed how anxiety perfectly feels given how many times the cat almost drowned.
The capybara represents peace and solidarity. Throughout the film, it may seemed nonchalant but it truly cares inside even in silence. Meanwhile, the lemur represents greed and possessiveness. However, it learned how to weigh things quite literally and weigh what's really the important things for them.
The golden retriever shows innocence and loyalty. At first, it was thorned between the pack of dogs and the cat gang but ultimately chose and learned who to trust. The secretary bird represents freedom and compassion. Even in the the most trying times, it chose to be free and take flight to save others.
And lastly, the whale represents fear and acceptance. At the beginning, it helped the cat along the waves in order for it to survive. It showed how along the way, things are bound to be okay even when its meant to be temporary.
Overall, these creatures defined how the world would be so much better if we just exerted a little kindness amidst differences. No matter if we're flooded with waves or overwhelmed at certain situations, it's significant to feel the water, embrace the wind, and flow wherever your heart wants you to be.
