Spider-Man 2
one of my micro goals is to show my gratitude to things i truly love and im passionate about so here i am trying to put into words my appreciation for this movie
for me it’s not just a movie about some spider superhero guy
i think it’s very downplaying to treat a
masterpiece of a film like this
sam raimi in a beautiful (even kinda mythic for me) 2000’s New York City portrays a struggling young man who’s trying to find his place in this world
the opening scene is us seeing those big blue eyes of mary jane
which i think it’s perfect cause throughout the whole movie the thing that is keeping peter going back and fourth between being a normal guy and spiderman is his love for mary jane
the first time peter lost his superpowers and was dragging his motorcycle through the street
he’s walking by a big wall full of MJ’s faces which is probably my fav shot of this movie
cause after every failure or setback he only think about the thing he craves the most
which is love
and oh boy this love is very flawed (i could write stuff about mj being a hoe but i’m not gonna do that lol i’m not here to hate)
like basically every aspect of peter’s life
the grief after his father figure death who peter blames himself for
seeing his aunt struggling
failing as a friend
failing his classes and trying to work 2 jobs
while being spiderman
all this has lead to peter going to a doctor and taking a shot at explaining that in his dream or his friends dream he losing his powers as spiderman
he climbing those walls but he keeps falling
doctor asked what does he think of himself in that moment
peter says “that’s the problem, he doesn’t know what to think”
doc answered
kind of makes you mad not to know who you are? your soul disappears, nothing is bad as uncertainty.
which is so fucking good i love that scene
and that’s why this movie for me is the greatest superhero movie ever and one of my favorite watches
tobey maguire’s peter parker is so relatable
we all trynna find our places
we all trynna find love
we all struggle
but like aunt may said
i believe there’s a hero in all of us
that’s the beauty of this film
the perfectly executed shots
the beautiful nyc
the best superhero soundtracks ever by Danny Elfman
yo and i didn’t even mentioned the best, most aura moment ever
the train scene is the best fucking fighting scene ever
every time i watch this scene i’m spiritually back as my 6 year old self watching this and getting hyped
i’m thankful for my pops who showed me this gem
the scene is truly incredible like many scenes in this movie
and ofc objectively speaking this movie is not perfect
tobey is not the best spiderman actor
doc ock is not even the best villain in the raimi trilogy
it’s not as good as the TDK
it’s not packed like infinity war
and it’s not even the best spiderman movie cause spider verse joints got it
but i love it so much
it’s perfect for me
every time i watch it i feel inspired
i feel motivated knowing that even spiderman struggles
but he’s still going
he got to
