Forrest Gump
incredible movie. i’ve seen bits and pieces of this when it was on tv long ago, but when i saw it was back on netflix, i realized i’ve never seen it start to finish. i can definitely say that was a good decision to watch it.
i’m not even going to go into all the details and whatnot, they were all very well done and that’s that.
what this movie really does well is the whole story overall. it’s probably the best “story” type of a movie i think i’ve ever seen.
another thing i really liked, without spoiling, were the bus scenes at the beginning and end. the parallels were heartwarming to say the least.
there were some other parallels that i really enjoyed a lot, and some others i enjoyed, but in a different way i guess you could say (🥲).
the one thing that i think will stick with me which the movie verbally touched on a few times was the idea of fate/destiny vs randomness in life. or like Forrest said at one point, maybe it’s both.
the feather at the beginning and the end i think really hit that idea home. i’m not even sure what it means really but it’s like the feather started off coming in, it was along for the whole story, and then it left. was this random or by fate? the feather was maybe a visual for us as viewers, but there’s definitely more to the idea of destiny vs randomness.
a must watch if you haven’t, it’s an instant favorite for me.
