The Florida Project
i’ve scrolled past this movie so many times, for no real reason other than the fact netflix is stuffed with so many things i wanna see. however i’m glad i finally decided to watch this.
i absolutely loved it. there really isn’t much to dislike. the cinematography was excellent. the acting was great, especially from the kids. the typical three act structure felt a bit different, but i loved how the story was told. the themes having to do with friendship, childhood, fun, and also the contrast between poverty and the american dream in a way, were all done very well. the contrast of childhood vs realism though, might have been the most powerful overall. as a viewer, our perspective throughout is that of a child, most of the time Moonee. in a way, i loved seeing that perspective because it reminded me of the innocence we all once possessed and how that affected our perspective on everything.
i’ll be thinking about this movie for quite some time, but i think everyone should definitely see it
