Waves
Took me long enough to finally see this, and nothing reminded me to finally get around to watching it until I found out this got added to Crave. Consider something long in my list finally watched. I guess you could also consider this to be my first “actual” review in awhile after a bunch of shit-writes. I didn’t know how to write something a lot shorter upon my first impression, didn’t also mean or want to go this long either so here we are with this incredibly lengthy entry.
The groundbreaking, well-told screenplay is jam-packed with devastating moments that literally make your emotions run intense, and it’s literally a huge HOLY FUCK one after another, you really feel it. At the same time, the cinematography and stylistic choices are both weird as fuck and some outstanding, highly innovative shit, compiled with interesting camera moves and a bold, visually striking style with the help of the colour vibrancy. The acting is also on another level, you are there with them in the moment as shit goes at its boiling point, like for instance, anger being captured seamlessly. This is quite some ride as something being driven by many of its elements. Essentially what some others have said as well. I probably loved it because I’m a fan of Euphoria and know there’s a distant connection there, but meanwhile, just whoa, holy shit! God fucking damn.
It’s a bummer how this isn’t available on Blu Ray in many countries, especially here in Canada, but it’s an Elevation movie here and them, like many other locally-run distributors over here have traits of doing fuck all with underrated movies like this one, only giving out the most widely recognized titles from their libraries onto Blu Ray copies. That’s probably just me being a Blu Ray geek again, don’t mind me. Trey Edward Schultz, you talented bastard.
