Ikiru

I don’t even have a good one liner to start the review, that’s how awful of a state I’ve been put in after this film. My first Kurosawa did not disappoint to the slightest, I cannot wait to watch more of his work. Watanabe is one of the most melancholic characters I have ever seen, I have never felt so bad for a character ever, how was everyone so disrespectful and cruel to this poor old man who wanted nothing more than to make others happy. The swing scene was one of the most beautifully shot scenes I’ve ever layed my eyes on, I think that not being the final shot of the film was a huge flaw for me, I feel like the other final scenes could’ve fit into the 3rd act somewhere else, the swing scene just seems like the perfect ending. Other than that, this film is incredible and something I believe everyone should watch once in their lifetime. 92/100
