I was thinking to myself about what makes a movie go from a 4.5 to 5 rating. And for me I believe is a movie that gets you feeling different even after rewatches, has you hooked the entire time, and is a movie that has you thinking of it afterwards. I believe this film is a perfect example of that.
From its first initial scene with screams in the background and the first initial death of the father, it sets a tone and mood felt throughout the entirety of the film. Even after this rewatch, I still felt fear throughout my body not knowing what was gonna happen. Which is strange because I never thought I would feel that feeling again on a rewatch. I already knew what was gonna happen, yet that made it even more chilling. I knew that those people were gonna get eaten. I knew that the remains were gonna be poured out on top of the house. That made it scarier.
Jordan peeled is a mastermind and such a fabulous director. My favorite of his was “Get Out (2017)” , but this for sure takes the cake as my favorite peele film. Maybe one of my favorite films of all time. It’s just so fabulous.
To those who didn’t like this film, I say rewatch it, and if you didn’t like it after the rewatch, then I’m sorry because you need to rewatch it again. What I’m trying to say here is that you gotta rewatch it until you like this peele masterclass.
