700th movie watched!!! 🔅🔅🔅🔅🔅🔅‼️‼️ (after 8 day movie drought too wow..)
picked this one because it has been collecting dust in my watchlist for a LONG while.. but unlike other movies in my watchlist, everytime i saw anything about this movie it always inspired me to watch it so much.
i love pta and i look up to him as a director, and his movies are all so different between each other that i never know what to expect.
safe to say i had high expectations, and tried lowering them to not possibly disappoint them afterwards... and:
absolutely LOVED the cinematography, it started amazing and kept that throughout the whole movie, occasionally getting amazing with some scenes like the ball, or when they go to the alps etc.
jonny greenwood's score is perfect, it matches the exact energy and vibe of the movie, its subtle, precise, gentle, just like the art of sewing after all.
and just like i noticed in There Will Be Blood, here too, the characters have so much depth, and the details about their personality traits are not shown obviously to us, theyre partially shown, and its up to us to fill the gaps and understand the character's being, intentions and purpose. We get to see that through their actions and their dialogue, yes, but what pta is able to do is to show what a character thinks solely by their expressions, and they can be emotions so subtle that many times they can be told just by using a character's eyes.
the story was definitely good, maybe it can feel a bit stretched in some parts but it all has purpose in the end , plus i didn't really get bored much, even in "deader" moments you are still trying to READ a character's thoughts, and you're getting little to no hints to help you out, its like trying to solve a puzzle in some ways...
but story aside, looking at the bigger picture its a great movie all in all, and every element does its job well. pta's skills impress me yet another time, and i hope that for his next movie, he goes into his arthouse self to lock in and make another masterpiece, because i think he's capable of making a movie so well done it will be easily be the best movie of the decade ... or maybe not who knows, i might just be yapping it up because its my 700th film so yeah bye guys congrats me yippee yay !!
