Hamnet
Thought I didn’t cry too much, spoke too soon.
Jessie Buckley is speechless throughout, a performance I cannot explain just felt so real to watch.
Mescal through the end of the film embodies the grieving father and is unrecognisable.
Some of the best child acting I’ve ever seen.
Chloe Zhao being almost blacklisted after a not great marvel movie shows how much of a joke Hollywood is. As shes easily one of the best directors about.
The moments of silence are possibly the best moments I’ve ever had in a cinema. Truly memorable. Further proof that this is so ridiculously well acted and filmed. It’s not relying on music to bring the emotion in the way so many ‘sad’ films/scenes do now.
Only criticism is paul mescal coming and going through the middle takes away from it slightly. Even with the foreshadowing his scene in London gives I don’t think it’s entirely needed and having him go from being happily sent away to fulfil his own needs to absent from the death completely would have made the ending even more heartbreaking in the film format.
