Full Metal Jacket

“I am in a world of shit, yes, but I am alive.” Rewatched for the second after a few years. I’ve had a long while to grow and develop my thoughts on this heavy film, whilst simultaneously, developing a deeper love for cinema.  An anti-war essential, if you are attempting to dive into the genre, Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket should be your first watch. Gritty, beautiful, devastating; Kubrick’s war masterclass highlights how the physiological and physical impacts that war has, excuses no one. My favorite aspect of the film, besides the goated soundtrack, would be the extremely likable characters. The like ability of characters, for instance like Cowboy and Joker created an atmosphere where you care deeply about each character.
