This fucking snuck up on me what the hell I guess this is pretty similar to Kid’s Return, even riddled with what seems like odes to Kitano’s visual comedy and novelty But what else is substituted in is this infection carefree spirit  The story being about the beauty and hardships of walking the line between taking things too seriously and not seriously enough  And so having every aspect of the filmmaking follow this trend works to create this wonderful feeling  It’s so great Like Throw Down too I’d say  It’s glorious it has new stuff to say and it’ll cram it into the same old same old, and still feel refreshing  Why can’t we be kind to one another during competitive matches ? Is competition there to show who’s best ? Is it for the joy of the game ? Is it for the mind ? I don’t know ! I love that  The music bangs too  I found this film through sugar plant’s song rise so Im already biased on the soundtrack front but it was all good I feel happy I feel amped and I feel like I’ve been treated to these feelings which is the best thing When a film feels like a treat yk like a sweet little treat It’s the best This was the best  Definitely hit a sweetspot for me same as Kid’s Return but this has me thinking there’s a whole sea of these sorts of things out there which so exciting Honestly, this might’ve hit an even sweeter spot with Smile’s whole game philosophy and stuff  And oh my god no spoilers but I’m just thinking of all the great things this did  I was thinking near the beginning that maybe it had its head a bit to wacky and borderline cringy up in the clouds but then I was so pleased with how it swept me up with its perfect attitude and approach  Helllll YES Ahhhh yay  There’s some flat-ish moments but that’s ltr it  I’m real happy rn
