Superman

Superman has always been a character that means little to me within the DCU. Growing up, I never had a solid movie to look towards when it came to the character. Sure, we’ve had Batmans, Suicide Squads, and Wonder Womans but never a proper modern Superman movie. James Gunn understands this character more than any director has before. He understands how goofy and somewhat ancient his humor is, his unwavering faith in the people of earth, and more. This movie is what we all deserved to have in our childhoods - a real superhero to look towards. On top of his proper characterization, I was pleasantly shocked with the Anti-Israel messaging. The more you watch, the more abundantly clear the storyline is about the Israel-Palestinian war. The messaging was sound, and provides a little hope that people in the US are attempting to speak out about war in any way.  I love this movie. Thank god we have a real Superman.
