Weapons
Weapons is unintentionally the funniest movie of the year. Tapping into self-deprecation, this movie realizes that it’s not too serious. Armed with incredible visuals, stellar acting from everyone involved, and a somewhat incomprehensible plot for the first half of the movie, Cregger created a masterpiece, and I cannot wait to see what he makes in the future. This film combines several different genres of horror throughout the runtime, and while the exposition at the beginning of the movie was kind of unnecessary, I don’t think it was bad. The gore, as it usually is my favorite part of horror movies, was incredible. It starts off relatively slow, but the intensity ramps up, especially at the end. I was stunned, and loved how anxious I was the entire time. Big fan of this, Barbarian, and what Cregger does in the future!
