Roofman

ROOFMAN! Was blessed to screen this with director Derek Cianfrance and pick his brain after. Some interesting things he mentioned:  -SOOOO much of this is true. He was on phone calls with Jeff for 4.5 YEARS Just getting to know him and his story and motivations. He also shot at the exact location. For example, it uses one of the real McDonald’s and exact church that Jeff was in in real life.  -the real people! Memorize the faces of the crossing guard, prosecutor, judge, pawn store owner, and truck driver (who literally plays himself). You’ll recognize them when the credits show the real people involved in Jeff’s life. -the toys R us was built completely from scratch out of an abandoned building. He said “way too much” of the budget went into that store, but he promised Channing that he would build him a toy store when he offered the role.  - I cornered him after the q&a and he whispered to me that Peter Dinklage was his favorite to work with on set
