Arrival is one of the most quietly gorgeous and brilliant films I've seen. Like I noted in my first review, it does hit different watching it a second time. Which might be kind of a bummer to some. Regardless, there's no denying Arrival's simplistic yet hauntingly beautiful scenery, with a lot of the credit going to the minimalist spaceships and its inhabitants. The score is also great; beautiful, yet haunting when it needs to be. Finally the lead performances in Arrival by Renner and Adams, might be some of their finest work (Adams in particular) Villeneuve is the greatest contemporary sci-fi filmmaker no contest.
