Interstellar
[My Nolan ranking]
Man honestly I did not expect to like this movie as much as I did, especially not on a rewatch. Interstellar was the first Nolan movie I ever saw, and 12 year old me didn't get it. There's a lot of stuff in Interstellar I still don't get, but to my 12 year old self, Interstellar was long, boring, confusing and not that interesting. Boy was I wrong! Except for the confusing part.
This movie is probably Nolan's best looking one to date, the cinematography feels, although almost a bit derivative at times, like a modern rehash of 2001's which is probably not a coincidence. Interstellar also features an amazing, eerie score by Hans Zimmer, which is possibly one of his best for a Nolan feature.
The ending is kinda corny, whatever. I'm willing to look past that, because this almost three hour long film flew by and kept me interested and invested all the way through, even though I initially thought I was too tired to watch a movie today, after having worked and just taken the vaccine.
Now for a more interesting topic: Was this Nolan's last great work?
