Boyhood
“Any dipshit can take pictures, Mason. Art, that's special. What can you bring to it that nobody else can?”
I feel that Richard Linklater really puts it into perspective how fast time goes on. Even on rewatch I’m just glued as this cohesive narrative goes along for almost three hours and I’m just thinking “I don’t want this to end.” A similar feeling that I’m experiencing with childhood. I’m about to become a senior, and soon enough go out on my own. It’s a scary realization that in that time you feel like you’ve wasted or haven’t used your potential for something. As if you’ve been controlled by the strengths of society and normality. Like Mason, I hope to create something. Not photography per se but film. Not only that I want to make something that matters, which is art. I want to make something special, I want to make something that speaks to people, I just want to make stuff in general. I hope as time passes that I get to act out on that with the people I know, by myself, or even with a crew someday. There’s so much I could say but I can’t. This film just speaks to me in such a profound way it’s crazy.
