Spirited Away
Buddy said he wanted to watch a movie and brought up this as one he has been meaning to watch. As you can imagine, this is a movie I consider to have changed my life, so it was a fairly easy sell. Real Hayden lore historians know that this is actual my 6th rewatch! You can find my first watch of this on here in 2021, but for like two years of having this platform I didn’t know how to re-log stuff so I never did. Why I bring this up is that my first watch of Spirited Away happened during an all nighter on the summer of my sophomore year of high school at approximately 2:00 AM. This movie shot a bullet through my heart at such a level that I literally couldn’t sleep. My second watch of Spirited Away happened hours later at around 6:30 AM. It’s the quickest I have ever rewatched a movie after watching it for the first time because I physically couldn’t help myself. Once the sun came up, I was informed that I had a large family party to go to. As you can imagine after not sleeping for a full 24 hours I wasn’t exactly a charmer. When we got to the function, I tried socializing (I love my family, I want that on the record your honor), was simply too tired, and I snuck away into a bedroom in the house we are in. You might imagine this was to take a nap. You’d be right if I was a sane person. What actually happened was my third watch of Spirited Away, once again, mere hours after my second watch, which was mere hours after my first watch. I watched this film for the first time and it blew my mind so hard I watched it twice in the next 24 hours. That should pretty accurately show you my love for this film.
Still one of the most magical things I have ever seen. Just pure joy and exuberance concentrated into art. Gets me every time. So, so special. The scene with Haku and Chihiro falling through the sky with the moon in the back why the score swells is easily one of my favorite moments from any film ever. It just hits on another level, I get chills everytime. Movie is so dear to me. Love it so much. Excited for the next time someone wants to watch it with me.
