Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump feels a lot like Luffy to me
goofy, kind, seemingly untouched by cruelty.
The kind of soul that moves through the world
without armor, without irony.
When Forrest talks about Jenny,
I thought of Myriam.
She was my most special friend.
My only friend, really.
We’re no longer friends now,
but that bond still follows me.
I cry every time I remember her.
This film truly, deeply touched me.
And when Forrest said,
“He’s so smart, Jenny,”
my tears spoke before I could.
There’s something unbearably pure
about the way he loves her,
no conditions, no pride, no fear of being hurt.
Just love, in its simplest and most honest form.
Forrest Gump isn’t loud about its pain.
It walks gently through it.
And somehow, that’s what hurts the most.
