Enough Said
i didn't rate this quite as high on my first watch, but on rewatch... i realised i just don't have anything bad to say. how human, and real, and deeply unromantic it is at times, is exactly why it is SO romantic to me. not all romances are whirlwinds of pure passion, and honestly, i'm tired of seeing those types of romances dominate the genre.
enough said gives us two empty nesters who initially aren't even attracted to each other, but through a desire for companionship, they give each other the chances that we don't often give modern romances. modern dating is fun and everything, but i think a lot of us have fallen victim to online dating. it's easy to get used to judging people off one low quality picture on their profile and keep swiping mindlessly. i know i have prematurely ended relationships that might have been successful, because i didn't feel an immediate spark. and that's fine, maybe they just weren't right, but maybe their nerves got the best of them, or maybe we got stuck on surface level conversation topics and never got a chance to really know each other.
a lot of us would have gotten the 'ick' from albert after his first bad joke or his lack of fashion sense and ghosted. again, that's fine and i really don't believe that you owe anyone anything after just a date or two, but we could be missing out on a relationship like eva and albert's, if we keep dating with the idea in the back of our minds, that someone else who may be better is just a swipe away.
eva and albert are not perfectly matched people, and i appreciate that. sometimes they argue, sometimes they second guess themselves, but they give the relationship a chance even when they're not sure if it would work, and i LOVE that.
