The Lighthouse
Tell you what, we coulda had a good life together! Fuckin' real good life! Had us a place of our own. But you didn't want it, Winslow! So what we got now is the rock! I love how Winslow starts believing that Thomas is a lunatic with the mermaid talk and the talk of not killing a seagull a tale will be a tale, it isn’t until he loses his shit and kills one that he finds out the consequences for his ignorance but then again with all the manipulation that Thomas does it makes Winslow a bit of a unreliable narrator making it unknown what happened or what was cause by the mental stress and alcohol. I love how this movie looks filmed with a 35mm vintage camera fully black and white with so much darkness and shadows to play with to give it such a atmospheric sense of dread and isolation. The twist with Winslow being someone else’s identity that he stole cause he wanted to kill him similar to how Thomas killed his last whickie was fun and the 5 minute monologue for not liking his lobster was so good any monologue those two went on had me hooked to my seat. Eggers can never disappoint and had been such a phenomenal director
