Cure
**11 Decades of Cinema in 7 Days — 1990s**Watched this with my cousins and they were completely mind blown. They had never seen a crime horror film like this before. I have to say it was a really good watch. The writing is very strong and the characters feel complex. There is a lot of depth to them. The hypnotizer being a former psychiatrist makes his character even more disturbing, and the detective slowly spiraling into insanity adds a lot of tension to the story.
The atmosphere of the film is what impressed me the most. The cinematography is brilliant with a very dark tone, and the camera angles make everything feel uneasy. Some scenes appear only for a split second and disappear again, which makes the film even more creepy because you are never fully comfortable with what you are seeing.
The sound design is also fantastic. The constant shaking sound when the detective is in his apartment made those scenes feel very stressful and intense. The sound throughout the film keeps building this dark atmosphere that never really lets you relax.
The interrogation scenes are another highlight. The acting there is very strong, especially from the hypnotizer. Every time he calmly asks people who they are it feels extremely unsettling. His voice is so emotionless and patient that it gives the whole character a very creepy presence. It gave me goosebumps more than once.
Overall this film really surprised me. It mixes crime and horror in a very unique way, and the direction, acting, sound, and atmosphere all come together to make something very memorable.
