Inglourious Basterds
“Say ‘Auf Wiedersehen’ to your Nazi balls!”
One of the visionary that is Quentin Tarantino’s many triumphs, providing yet another film in his insane catalog that when you say this is your favorite, it would be more than valid. This whole film, beginning to end, is just mesmerizing to intake, from the breaking-free spirit of a damn incredible character on a path of rightful vengeance, to the cunning, perfect antagonist that is (almost) always 10 steps ahead, to the band of mighty heroes who do achieve a victory in this story.
Tarantino provides a special ingredient to his ever-so-stylish films, often creating period pieces but adding some of his own artistic touch to them, such as the music and the way he writes his characters.
Inglorious Basterds is a chaptered story about different point-of-views culminating into a satisfactory (for the most part) ending, where we see a group of ruthless men trying to rid the Earth of scum, a woman done wrong by the Devil himself and surviving such event by becoming one of the reasons the Germans lost the war, and of course, one of the best antagonists we have ever witnessed in film, with Christoph Waltz providing a chilling, eccentric and petrifying performance.
Overall, a mogul in filmmaking from the last 20 years that I could definitely see become my favorite Tarantino, which same could be said for like 4 of his films.
100/100
(I stopped doing the 100 scale btw but I will definitely always acknowledge what movies I watch that are a perfect 100/100)
