Watchmen

*“Who watches the Watchmen?” * I do. Again. For the 3rd time. This movie is just so magnificent. It’s so ahead of its fucking time, it’s crazy. Nolan recently stated that Watchmen was ahead of its time, and he’s right. So you know I had to rewatch. The Watchmen graphic novel by Alan Moore is my favorite graphic novel of all time. Hell, it’s my favorite piece of fiction of all time. Most people who follow me know how I feel about Watchmen. “Rorschach's Journal: October 12th, 1985. Tonight, a comedian died in New York.” I absolutely HATE when people hate on this movie because it wasn’t “accurate to the graphic novel” and what not. This is probably the most accurate adaption to the source material as you’re going to get. *“She was pregnant. And you gunned her down.”* “That's right. And you know what, you watched me. You could've turned the gun into steam, the bullets into mercury, the bottle into goddamned snowflakes but you didn't, did you? You really don't give a damn about human beings. You're driftin' out of touch, Doc. God help us all.”** This film is important, now more than ever. It was way ahead of its time when Snyder released this all the way back in 2009. I feel like this film did the graphic novel justice. All the shots are a carbon-copy of the shots in the comic, dialogue is pretty much the same, everything about it is just a spitting image of the original source material. “I am looking at the stars. They are so far away, and their light takes so long to reach us. All we ever see of stars is their old photographs.” And don’t get me started on the castings. They were all perfectly cast. Down to Billy Crudup, Jeffery Dean Morgan, Matthew Goode, Jackie Earle Haley, everyone. Snyder also picked a good ass soundtrack too. “Once you realize what a joke everything is, being the Comedian is the only thing that makes sense.” It’s not a Snyder movie without beautiful visuals and heavenly shots. One of the most visually pleasing comic-book movies, just in films in general, of all time. Never walk into a Snyder film expecting there not to be some dope cinematography. Watchmen probably has some of the best and most beautiful quotes in all of media. Overall, Watchmen is brilliant and everyone should read, then watch the movie.  97/100 for 5 stars **December ranked **
