Phantom Thread
Randomly picked.
I'm not into romantic films but this one was really good. It nailed relationships as a whole and how it is nearly impossible to have one without both sides being the way they are.
Both partners in the films was very extreme (it was a tool to be more easier to understand it) and toxic. Both of them lacked something that other offered but at a cost, and PTA nailed every single thing in the narrative and how it was built up. I really liked how the balance was depicted because I have compulsory habits too just like Woodcock and it's pretty hard to get used to in third person because it would seem like an easy job to dilly-dally off of the precisely constructed script but in the meantime it's very unthinkable and hard, and quite weird to explain.
Matter of fact, this is my second PTA film and I'm starting to get used to how he plays out his plot. But still couldn't wrap my head around the praise of OBAA, it seems that I completely missed something or I don't know. He is sure a talented writer and director, and a pretty versatile one. I really liked the scenes on the Alpes, and the ending scenes too.
*Not to mention Woodcock's immaculate winter outfits and his hair styling. *
I would also strongly reccomend this film for couples whom has problems with managing balance with their "deeper" self and psyche.
