Moon Knight

“You don't need to fight me, Steven. Surrender control.“
It’s been over 3 years since Moon Knight first aired on Disney+. 2021 and 2022 was a very weird time for the MCU. With the launch of the new streaming service, Marvel released four live action projects in 2021 and then another three in 2022.
With all this new content, some MCU projects didn’t really get a chance to breathe. Moon Knight was one that suffered from this MCU “overexposure”. I even felt that it was too much.
Now rewatching this series, I was able to enjoy it much more and take each episode at a time without having to worry or focus on the next series comic out. Oscar Isaac never read any of the comics for this character when he was a kid, but he really plays this troubled and conflicted role so well. Seeing him switch from Marc and Steven so easily and how he carries each character in their own way, was so fun to watch.
Moon Knight for the most of the series, feels very different than the MCU, exploring a new side of the mythological and other-worldly part of this growing universe. This is a great character study project, that goes into the psyche of Marc Spector/Steven Grant as a person and showing the weight of what trauma can do to a person and how we hide or deal with it. Ethan Hawke is also excellent as this cultist leader who believes what he is doing, is right. Two great castings.
I still think the finale is very poor unfortunately. We abandon the character focused story, for a big CGI fight scene between two mythological creatures. Overall a really great MCU series that has risen pretty high in my ranking in this universe. Hoping we get a season 2 or movie where we get to see the character again. Overrated series for sure and I’m not going to let Twitter tell me otherwise.
