Sinners
This film felt immersive during the scenes where they changed the aspect ratio to make the screen expand. It also created a very unsettling and tense environment because it jump scared me like 8 times, you know its coming and anticipate it and that's what makes it work. The performance that Preacherboy gave also made it immersive since it brought in present day music with the type of music they were already playing. This scene felt psychological because it shows how his character identifies with music so much and we see that it brings his ancestors together as well so its like it is a part of him. The lighting stood out during the scene where the vampires burned because it showed the shadows on them as the light was peeking through around them. This style of cinematography made the film feel dreamlike but also symbolic, the scenes where they drove at the plantation made it seem hopeful for them because of the sky. Ludwig's score made the movie stand out even more because it built a lot of tension in every scene, the moments where they built up and then stopped the music made it so you know something is coming. The sound elevated the visuals during each dancing scene in the juke joint and outside when the vampires danced. The music definitely "won" the movie because without it the tension they created wouldn't be there, Michael B Jordan's performance was also impressive since he played two different characters but I feel like the music is what made the film so good. I think that this film could win the best original score but also One Battle After Another had a very unique score so I'm not sure but the original song could definitely win. The costume design and makeup might also win as well as the cinematography but Bugonia also had good cinematography so they could too. They will probably win at least 2 categories maybe.
