Moneyball
How of all sports films is it a baseball film that just breaks so many boundaries for me.
This film is pure entertainment. It’s a true underdog story. My god it’s THE SPORTS FILM
I’m not a baseball fan in the slightest but this makes it so easy to understand.
The film doesn’t follow the conventional narrative of watching an underdog team just start winning. It provides a behind the scene look into the struggles they had and how at first they were going as predicted but there sudden rise.
This film is more of a business film than it is a sports film and I love that. I love the business side of sports and how this film basically shows how money is ruining the game for lower teams rlly shows. But the way they combat it can change the game completely.
Brad Pitt is just immense in this probably one of his most underrated performances. He shows a man so set on success he’s willing to try one of the riskiest tactics ever to win. When it’s not working Pitts performance shows it and when it goes well he does too vise versa.
Also I love the cinematography in this film some simple but effective uses of the camera are shown here.
Also credit to the sound mixing department some rlly nice uses of sound. Also love the use of archive footage to rlly sell how this is a true story a lot of other biopics do this too obviously but I like it here.
Jonah hill as well is stellar in this role just presenting this unknown baseball genius who changed the game.
This is a wonderful film and had me addicted from minute one a great film and it’s about fucking baseball how impressive is that
