Phantom Thread
Very articulate in its exploration of obsession and the importance of passion.
While keeping that burning passion from withering away in the wind, you also can’t let it burn the people around you. Alma, feeling like she has been burned by Reynolds obsession, forms her own. Instead of it being a flame it is poison, but how it affects the people who you love remains the same.
A beautiful look at two extremely flawed characters in an extremely flawed world. Both having their structures challenged by each other, broken down until only the truth remains. The struggle of control, whether we long to have it or maybe the complete opposite was in the back of my mind the whole time. I just have scattered thoughts for now but this film really is special. Paul Thomas Anderson what a man you are.
Edit: I didn’t even mention how great this film is shot and how impressive the performances are but that is to be expected with the people involved in this masterpiece.
