Cat Ballou
Rewatched today for the first time in a long time, since high school I think. First time I watched this I was 10, out around Wyoming, on a 6 week road trip with my family. Dad made us watch and I loved it from the first second. In 6th grade I tried to adapt the screenplay into a stage play (that never actually came to fruition) so I must have read the script upwards of 20 times through. I did intend to play Kid Sheleen. Watching as an adult made me so much more aware of details that went completely over my head as a child, such as the fact that Jackson is DEFINITELY played by a white man with a spray tan and eyeliner. Additionally I understand the whole “shalom aleichem” bit now. Jane Fonda in this movie might be the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life. This movie is bi culture.
