Jaws
Summer blockbusters started here I suppose. It holds up tremendously today and even from watching Spielbergs Duel you can see where he’s started to expand on qualities he demonstrated there. I mean within like 2 minutes of one another you have a beautiful split diopter shot and then possibly the greatest or one of the greatest dolly zooms of all time, literal chills.
I used to be terrified of this film when I was a kid. Like in a way where I couldn’t even get through the film. However, I also distinctly remember being put on the jaws ride at Universal whilst I was terrified of said film… wonder why I’m not a big fan of the ocean.
