Django Unchained
I love the script and the pacing this movie never feels rushed, but it never drags out either. The concept alone is one of Tarantino’s best, a compelling revenge story with absolutely over the top violence. The cast is stacked, but Jamie Foxx who is perfect as Django, and honestly, I’m really glad the role went to him instead of Will Smith. Christoph Waltz somehow manages to top his performance from Inglourious Basterds here, Dr. King Schultz might be my favorite character he’s ever played. That’s not even mentioning how ridiculously star studded the rest of the cast is. Leonardo DiCaprio is fantastic and unhinged, Samuel L. Jackson is genuinely unsettling and such an asshole, Kerry Washington brings heart to the story and makes you really feel for her, and Dennis Christopher adds to the film’s tense mood and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The last hour is some of the best entertainment ever put to screen. This is one of Tarantino’s most entertaining films, and easily one of my favorites.
