Interstellar
Is it one of the mostly beautifully shot movies of all time, yes. Does it have an immaculately composed soundtrack, yes. Is the acting superb, yes. Is it a perfect movie, no, let me explain why. First let’s get the obvious out of the way, it is a bit longer than it needed to be, pacing is always what I hear people complain about and I see why, really quite a bit of the time on earth could’ve been slimmed down. No one was there to see earth really, we are here for the exploration of the cosmic wonders. My other complaint comes from the whole 5th dimension bookshelf thing, its explanation is weak, like oh someone could build this in the future to travel back in time, it’s weird and and not thought out completely in my opinion. What it gets right, the visuals, the sound, the characters, the exploration, the worldbuilding, the camerawork, it’s all immaculate. Just the way the movie looked so realistic is enough praise to put it amongst the best of the best of cinema. The soundtrack is iconic, it builds every climatic moment to its peak then abruptly stops, its heart stopping and I loved it. The story of the expeditions was really well done as well, it’s well written out. The characters are so fleshed out and intricate, they work well with each other and things and ideas one says resonates with another character throughout the film. It really is an all time great film and should be recognized as easily one of the top 100 films of all time. I will rewatch.
