Full Metal Jacket
This movie makes me want to watch more war films. I love how the movie is split into two contrasting segments, the structured dehumanizing life within boot camp that creates “killing machines”, compared to the unpredictable urban setting that is the Vietnam war. Joker works to represent the “duality of man”, where he still holds a morale high ground in an environment that has taught him to look beyond these values to fight for whatever is demanded of him. His final actions shatter this reality and highlight forced conformity that plague many soldiers during the darkest hours of war.
