Whiplash
I have never seen someone depicted to have a better hold of manipulation, control, and dominance in film. Fletcher is a mastermind who believes that coal can only form to diamond under the utmost pressure. Perfection becomes a plague that defines all guiding decisions in your life. For Andrew, the music never stopped playing in his head and it nearly brought him to death attempting to see this fairytale vision through to become “one of the greats”. I admire how he changed his potential fate. His humiliation along with pent up resentment towards Fletcher, his family, and given circumstances only then allowed him to flourish and elevate above any plausible expectations.
Music and film are two beautiful representations of art and I could not get enough in Whiplash.
