Double Indemnity
How can a film be this good even though we KNOW what's going to happen. This film is just incredible and Billy Wilder is going film after film with my 5/5 star ratings. All 3 films I've seen of Wilder are all 5/5.
Plot is amazing. Like the flashback storytelling is such an unique idea and the whole idea that we know what happens but we get to see the whole events is something that is so challenging to do in a interesting way but this film does it. Because be honest not many films can keep the audience hooked even though the outcome is known.
The characters are amazing. This has an ultimate femme fatale with Barbara Stanwyck’s portrayal being top of the roof. Phyllis is such an fantastic and well written character with so many unique traits. Fred MacMurray gripping and tragic performance is also fascinating. He was so amazing in The Apartment and seeing him as a lead in this made me so happy.
The screenplay and dialogue are incredible. I don't know what it is with Billy Wilder films having such good screenplay's all the time but he's so good at writing scripts. The dialogue is highly stylized, setting the standard for crime and mystery genres. The pacing is so good and this has so many tense and memorable moments.

I love how in this film we can kind of see this film from the villains perspective. Like Walter Neff is the murderer along with a highly manipulative sociopathic Phyllis. Seeing the story being told from their view kind of sets this film for the unique title. We are kind of rooting for the bad guys even though we shouldn't
Double Indemnity was kind of better than Sunset Boulevard in my opinion but that's insane because Sunset Boulevard was so incredible as well. I'm definitely contiuning my Billy Wilder grind.
