Amadeus
Let me begin by saying just how beautiful this movie was. The set design as well as the costume design were absolutely stunning. This movie just clicked with me because of the way there were two plots that coincided with each other and led to the same events but had different impacts on the characters. On one hand we have Salieri manipulating Mozart and those around him. While this is mostly surface level, it is still delivered drama and tension and left me on the edge of my seat. As for the other “plot”, we have Salieri’s path of loving and praising God, and then crumbling because of Mozart was hypnotizing to watch. Seeing a man’s religion shattered because of one man was just mind-blowing and it once again was delivered in such an amazing way. Also a lot of times I don’t love when a movie is just a character retelling a story, but having Salieri retell it in hindsight just added to the mistakes he made, especially the fact that he was explaining it all to a priest, which just made it feel all the more significant.
