Moneyball
I believe that everyone should watch this movie every year before the season starts to embrace the crazy, stupid hope that every fan (be it the Rockies, dodgers, athletics, Red Sox, Yankees, twins or Mets) feels for their team before the grim reality begins to set in.
I hate writing real reviews for movies but I whole heartedly believe that this film views baseball in a way that is different from how every film has ever viewed baseball, and that nothing, not the most mathematically sound, or which player has the hottest girlfriend method could ever predict the way that a baseball team can create so much magic.
The Yankees may have bought their World Series rings in that era, or you can look at it as those teams had a crazy abundance of heart and soul, something that the teams that beat them when they did (dbacks or marlins) just so happened to have more of. Why the 02 athletics didn’t have that same magic was the same reason that the 24 mets didn’t have the same kind of magic, this concept that I can’t quite grasp that no World Series can be won with a statistic or a dollar.
Idk it’s a really good movie.
