Hereditary
Still just as terrifying as the first time, a horror experience like no other. Toni Collette’s performance still grabs me and holds me throughout, so much effort and realism put into her character, it’s as if she really did lose her whole family the way she performs, it was incredible. Now as far as the scares go, of course the first watch they fucking rocked me to the core in an almost unexplainable way, just nothing I’ve seen before, like it’s insane, every scare works because of how deep they are carved into the plot and how much buildup is done. Right from that scene, you know what I’m talking about, you’re not only absolutely hooked but your nonstop on edge and I love it. This movies ability to drill and drill your head with the incredible sound design and constant thumping takes this movie on another level and leaves its mark on you when your finished watching. Now, I guess I kinda have to talk about the plot and story which were of course the most polarizing aspect, I just wish they focused so much less on the story and lore and more on character development, not they didn’t do enough of that but more always helps. I know your not really supposed to understand the story, but by the end it just feels a little overdone with all the rituals and naked shit to be honest, only thing holding this movie back from perfection, unfortunately the plot is one of those things you can’t fuck up if your striving for perfection. And as far as the previously mentioned character development goes, it was great, especially for a horror movie the characters and family are amazingly fleshed out and their interactions are otherworldly, especially the dinner scene, like damn. As far as pure terror goes this movie is probably still the scariest I have ever seen, even on a rewatch this movie is able to constantly, I mean constantly keep your heart beating and keeps you looking in corners by the end which is my favorite part, those damn corners. All around a must watch for horror fans, and just a skip away from being flawless but still incredible.
